I may regret this – especially when it’s Super Bowl weekend. While that would be the most obvious topic, I’ve got it in my head to talk about politics. WHAT?! You immediately respond. Don’t worry, I’m not going to dive too deep. I don’t really enjoy talking about politics.
Â
But before we get too far, let me remind you that to discuss politics, one must understand them. So, let’s break down the word: poli means many, and tics are blood suckers. There you go.
Â
Ha. Ha. I couldn’t resist. Everybody is so serious.
Â
I’m not going to express an opinion on one side or the other, as it relates to the multitude of executive orders that are being put forward. What I want to ask you to consider is the fact that we have all been stuck in neutral for quite some time. Wouldn’t you agree?
Â
We have become complacent lemons – watching the world go by as stuff just happens.
Â
What the president is forcing us to do, however, is to get off zero. He’s forcing us as a community to get up and go fight for what we believe in.
Â
Where does that start? We start by educating ourselves by the books we read, the podcasts we listen to, and the people we hang out with. We’ve got to be careful about who we listen to, who we talk with, or who we are being led by. We have to get off our couches, find out for ourselves, and then fight for what we believe in.
Â
Get off center. Stand for something.
Â
If you are disappointed, find something positive to do with your time and energy. How can you make a difference in your community? Or even beyond. And if that’s too much, start by taking care of yourself.
Â
If you are happy about all that is going on, consider passing along some kindness. Try being thoughtful to those who might not feel the same way as you.
Â
Life’s too short to be angry all of the time. Let’s lead those around us towards something constructive and, quite possibly, strengthen our community.
Â
Thank you!
